The Elusive Aurora

I have been waiting a long time for the northern lights to put on another show in Whistler.  Unfortunately I missed the epic aurora in March and since then have been watching the forecasts and predictions carefully.

There has been the minor appearance from time to time.

And then, at last, it happened.  The aurora showed up and put on an epic show.  I had skipped looking at the forecasts and predictions for a couple of days and would not have noticed at all had I not been driving north of Whistler at about two or three o’clock and noticed this crazy thing going on in the sky.  I couldn’t believe it.  I went straight home, grabbed my camera, prayed the battery had some power and raced down to Lakeside Park to see what I could get.  By all reports and seeing other photos I definitely missed the strongest part of the show however I still managed to witness a lot of it even if I didn’t catch it on camera.

Time and time again this place never ceases to amaze and inspire me.  I guess it’s back to the forecasts and predictions for the time being and here’s to hoping I am ready next time!
